CREATE + CULTIVATE POP-UP
Did any of you make it to SXSW this year? My friend Kelsey & I had the chance to go this year for a pop-up event by Create & Cultivate. You may remember that I attended C+C's LA Conference about a year ago. Which by the way, if you happen to wonder if you should go, my advice is RUN, DON'T WALK.
The LA conference was somewhere around 8-10 hours long and had an overwhelming amount of brands represented. . . as well as UNLIMITED COFFEE. I cost me half a grand, and it was worth much more in what I experienced that day. Surprisingly, the SXSW pop-up event was entirely FREE, and could best be described as a smaller version of the conference. The event was an entire day--from 9 to 9--and overflowing with relevant, insightful panels. There was never any blank space- there was always a panel to listen to, a brand to explore, a nail bar to visit, drinks (even some cocktails) and snacks to indulge in.....and--get this--a massage appointment to be had. Nubian Heritage was represented with free goodies and massages. And they also had UNLIMITED COFFEE.
So, all that said, the event was outstanding and well worth the lack of sleep and bearing the cold. That being said, when I found out C&C was having a SXSW pop-up event, I RSVP'd, and booked my car and somewhere to stay. Kelsey & I chose Airbnb for our stay. I had the chance to stay in an Airbnb last summer while traveling with family in Houston. We rented an entire house in a fabulous, walkable neighborhood. It was an amazing experience. While I didn't book the house myself, I was excited about experiencing Airbnb again!
It's like shopping for a house, without the commitment of actually buying one. How fun is that?! Do you want a modern townhouse in downtown? A cabin in the woods? A bungalow in SoCo?
We went with a cabin in the far away woods of Dripping Springs, TX. It was only a 25 minute drive out of Austin, but it really felt like we were deep into the hill country forest. Our hosts were great communicators, they answered my text messages within seconds. The cabin was impeccably clean and well organized. It was cozy and intimate, perfect for a getaway with your family, girlfriends, or your bae :) The property was secluded, private, and bizarrely quiet! This is coming from someone who is used to city noise all day. So, for me, this cabin was the exact rest and relaxation that I needed.
As you may gather from the following photos....we'll be booking this cabin again!
